Portalegre is scenery, it's history, it's culture. It is a land of olive oil, cheeses, sausages, and of gallant people. And it is from audacity that this Alentejo city is made of, the same that gave rise to the new bet of Adega de Portalegre Winery. And if, until now, Red was king, the name Portalegre is also epithet of White. The color changes, but quality remains with Portalegre DOC White 2017.
Just reaching the market, this is a bold wine, result of a careful selection of grapes from the harvest of 2017, to which is added the investment in new French oak barrels. Features that provide the wine with unique complexity and exceptionality.
A wine that transports the land that saw it being born, there in the mountain range of São Mamede, in the heart of the natural park - a unique terroir of the region - which justifies its enormous eccentricity, uniqueness and personality and which gives the wine a fresh and elegant character.
The manual selection of the best grapes from the old vines, with soft pressing and natural fermentation, without yeast addition, in French oak barrels of 500 liters, and in small vats, result in the perfect blend for an unforgettable wine.
With fruity notes of apricot, grapefruit and hints of spices and aromatic herbs in the mouth, Portalegre DOC White 2017 presents great volume, structure and freshness, with a broad first taste and a long and tense finish that gives the wine a great gastronomic aptitude. Ideal to accompany baked fish in the oven, stew, fish and seafood rice, cod, octopus, poultry and Japanese cuisine.
To the new white in the Adega de Portalegre's portfolio is added a new red, the Conventual DOC Tinto 2017, the new harvest that replaces the one of 2014. A unique wine, as result of a manual harvest in boxes of 20 kg, with grapes totally destemmed, fermented in stainless steel vats with temperature control at 28 °C.
With a fruity nose, with a predominance of ripe red fruits, it has a soft, fruity flavor with red fruits, dark chocolate, with soft tannins, being the ideal company for poultry, red meats and Italian cuisine.
